Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a list of common questions that you might be wondering about. If your question isn’t answered below or you would like to know more about a specific questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Who will be my photographer?
As the owner and lead photographer, I (Sammy) will be there for your event. I plan one wedding/event per day so you will always work with me. If you book a package with a second shooter, you will be working with me and another trusted local photographer, hand-picked by me to make sure you get high quality images and an enjoyable experience filled with laughs and fun coming from both of us. I love networking with other photographers and we often work for each other to learn from each other and support each other by building a great creative industry community.
When Will i get my photos?
Photos will be posted on my gallery page with your personalized page within 6 weeks of your event. Check out the “Client Proofs” tab to see other client’s galleries.
Do i get every single photo you take of me?
The short answer: no.
The long answer: I will take lots and lots and lots of photos at your wedding or event to make sure I get lots of good memories for you to share. This means that some of them will come out blurry or someone will have their eyes closed or posed in an unflattering way or someone may walk in front of my shot. I only deliver the best photos that make you look great and reflect my style of photography, which what you signed up for in the first place.
The funny answer: This photo side by side of Beyonce.
Can i just have my photos as shot (Raw) and edit them myself? I have a really cool app/family member/friend that can do it for me?
I do not give out my raw, unedited photos. Putting my name on a photo means that I approve of the work and the editing style and feel that it is an accurate representation of me and my business. I will hand-edit each image to make sure they meet the standards you expect when booking me and my style of photos, plus it will save you the work of editing them or getting someone to edit them for you.
Can I Tweak the photos after you deliver them to me?
According to copyright laws, photos delivered to you cannot be cropped, photoshopped, filtered, or modified in any way without permission from the photographer. That being said, if there is something you want tweaked with your photo, you can always reach out to me and I can adjust an image for you so it fits your needs.
Can I get a copyright release for my photos?
I don’t offer a copyright release as it is not possible to give or sell copyright to a client. The copyright means that I created and own the photos that I produce for you. I will, however, write up a Print Release Agreement for your photos allowing you to have them printed wherever you would like. I also have some awesome items available for printing your photos that I know will be the high quality you expect for you beautiful photos.
I love your photos, But i need you to photograph somewhere not in cleveland. Do you travel?
Absolutely! If photographing more than a 2 hour drive outside of the Cleveland area, I will ask that you put me up in a hotel for the night and compensate me for the gas or flight if it is a really long distance. I will do my best to find the cheapest flights and will work with you to come up with a fair compensation for travel. If your event is a wedding, you can add me as a room to your hotel block and use the discounted price to save money too.
Do you offer payment plans?
I do offer payment plans! For weddings and events, I require an initial payment of 50% of the package price which will also reserve your date on my calendar, followed by 25% due 1 week prior to your wedding and the remaining 25% due when your photos are delivered. Family shoots require a full payment to book the date. I understand that everyone has their own financial situation so if you need to break it down into smaller payments, send me an email and we can work out something that will work for you and your budget.
You are so fun and I’m excited to work with you! Do you know any other vendors that are awesome to work with that you can recommend?
Absolutely! I spend a few hours each week networking with other event industry vendors and I can recommend a list of great vendors that will make your wedding or event awesome. I believe that getting a team that works well together will help your event go smoothly and allow you to relax and enjoy the day. I network with other photographers as well so if you happen to need a photographer on a day I’m already booked, I can recommend someone of similar style and budget that you will love.
will you work off of a shot list?
When planning your wedding or event, I will get together with you a few weeks beforehand and we will go over any must have photos and important details that I should know about (photo of a passed loved one in the pocket of the groom’s suit, a family heirloom, a special someone attending) as well as a list of combinations you would like for family formals after the ceremony. Beyond that, I will create photos that capture your day as a story to tell in photos and capture the emotions and moments throughout the day. If you have a Pinterest board or other list of photo inspirations that you would like, you are more than welcome to share them with me and I will do my best to capture similar photos with my own twist put on them. Keep in mind that I do my best to capture everything, but I cannot guarantee any photos due to the limitations of weather, cooperations of people being photographed or nearby when I’m photographing, limitations of a venue, or any other factor that is not under my control.
Can my aunt/uncle/friend/grandparent take photos while you are photographing?
I don’t mind, and actually encourage, that your family and friends take photos during your reception or during the party time at your event. During a wedding ceremony or important parts of your event(first dance, cake cutting, etc.), I ask that anyone who feels they need to take a picture just stay out of the way so that I can get the shots that you want (and that you hired me for). I will do my best to photograph around these people, but for everyone's enjoyment of the day, it is best that they just enjoy the moment and leave the photography to the photographer.
I do not allow photographing while I am doing family formals at a wedding as there is too big of a risk of people looking at the wrong camera. I also do not allow photographing while we go out with the couple and their wedding party as those are special moments that require as little distraction as possible so they can just have fun and enjoy the photography process.
Should I have an “unplugged” wedding?
I absolutely love when couples decide to have an unplugged wedding ceremony. Not only does it eliminate iPads and phones from your photos, but it also allows your family and friends to be present in one of the biggest moments of your life instead of watching through a screen or camera lens. I don’t require that any of my couples have an unplugged wedding, but I will definitely encourage it so you can enjoy the moment and the pictures without looking out at a see of screens during your ceremony. If you decide to have an unplugged ceremony, I can help you with writing a sign, website note, or something for your officiant to say before the ceremony starts.
Here is a handy video if you want more info on Unplugged Weddings.
Is there any place you Will not photograph?
I reserve the right to refuse to shoot at a certain location, take a certain shot, or place my clients in a location or situation that is dangerous to myself, my business, or the client being photographed. I will not photograph on locations such as busy streets, railroad tracks, private property without permission of the owner, or anywhere else that is illegal, dangerous, or both. I value the safety of myself and my clients too much to put you or myself in a situation that would harm anyone in any way.
Do I need to feed you?
Although not required, it is highly encourage and very deeply appreciated when you feed your day-of vendors (photographer, videographer, DJ, Band, photo booth staff, planner/coordinator, etc). Feeding your vendors at the same time in the same room as the rest of the guest at your wedding or event ensures that we don’t miss anything and we are easy to find if you need to change around the schedule. Plus we enjoy networking with each other so putting us all together at a table in the back corner of the room is a time for us to take a quick break, gobble down some food, talk to each other to make sure we are all on the same page for the rest of the night, and then get back to it. I can promise you that nothing important will be missed since photos of people eating are pretty unflattering anyway. If for whatever reason, you plan to not feed your vendors when everyone else is eating, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
what happens if i lose my photos?
Your photos will be on the Client Proofs website for a minimum of 6 months. After that, it will be removed from the site when I need to clear up space for future clients. All albums that have been removed from the site are stored on my external hard drive in a firesafe. If you happen to lose your photos before they are removed from the site, you are welcome to download them again. If you lose them after they have been removed, I can get a copy of them for you from my hard drive. So no worries, you photos will never be gone forever.
So what do you do when you aren’t doing photography stuff? Are you human or a photography robot?
I’m definitely human with a love for photography, but when I’m not behind a camera, editing at my computer, or networking with others in the industry, I can be seen enjoying running, reading, hanging out with my studio pup and my hubby, binge-watching tv shows, the occasional crocheting project, playing Minecraft, or meeting us with my friends to play Dungeons & Dragons (yes, I am that kind of nerd). If you want to learn more about me, check out Meet Sammy.
I really love dogs and think they are just the cutest. Is there somewhere I can see More pictures of Jesse?
Jesse is the best studio pup ever and has his own Instagram.
